Steven John Boese, 72, a United States Army veteran, went home to his Lord peacefully surrounded by family on October 1, 2013. Steve was born on May 24, 1941 to Ben and Beata (Restle) Boese and grew up in New London, Wisconsin. He was a 1959 graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School, where he met and later married Mary Lecker in 1964. They raised their two children, Beth and Scott, in Appleton. In their retirement years, the couple enjoyed summers at their cottage in Elcho, Wisconsin and winters in Yuma, Arizona. Steve spent his time golfing, singing in various choirs, reading, and following the Packers and Badgers. Steve enjoyed a life richly filled with friends and family and Moccasin Lake sunsets.
Steve is survived by Mary, his wife of 49 years; his son Scott (Katy) Boese; his daughter Beth (Greg) Osowski and their children Samuel and Allison Osowski; a brother Stuart “Skip” (Jane) Boese; a sister Debra Vermeern; a sister-in-law Shirley Vermeern; a brother-in-law Henry Vermeern; and many nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Beata Boese, and his in-laws Arthur and Edna Lecker, Carl and Margaret Lecker, and Bill Vermeern.
The Christian Funeral Service for Steve will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at BETHANY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 530 W. Parkway Blvd. in Appleton, with Rev. Mark Henke officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to Fox Valley Lutheran High School or Time of Grace Ministries.
