Steve Giesen

Steven Joseph Giesen, age 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on October 14, 2019, at Cherry Meadows. Steve was born on December 2, 1956 in New London, son of the late Lawrence and Lucille (Guyette) Giesen. He had many jobs over the years, but especially enjoyed his landscaping work, Anchor Foods Warehouse and at Mills Fleet Farm Distribution Center. Steve met the love of his life, Cheryl Huntoon, on a blind date arranged by a friend. They married on August 15, 1995 in Florida and shared 26 total years together.

Steve loved the outdoors; especially his yard, his lawn and his trees. He took great pride in his landscaping abilities and never missed a chance to stop to watch the grass grow. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Packers and Nascar, as well as riding his Harley. Family was #1 to Steve. He started the annual Giesen family reunion and cherished his role as the “grandpa daycare”. Steve was often comforted by his faith in God, especially through his illness. Cheryl and Steve spent many nights praying together and reading scripture. He will always be remembered as a kind and loving man.

Steve leaves behind his loving wife: Cheryl Giesen; their four legged baby: Angel; children: Stevie (Heidi) Giesen, Heather Giesen, Kyle (Chelsea) Giesen, Ethan (Ashley) Giesen, Jason (Melissa) Wagner, Amanda (David) Stephens, and Jess (Mike) Novak; 17 ½ grandchildren; siblings: Sandy (Dale) Grawvunder, Jim (Sue) Giesen, Rob (special friend Chong) Giesen and David Giesen; and other relatives and friends. He was greeted in Heaven by his oldest son: Jesse Giesen; parents: Lawrence and Lucille Giesen; and his brother: Larry Giesen.

The memorial service for Steve will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 21, 2019, at CHRIST THE ROCK COMMUNITY CHURCH, W6254 Hwy 10-114, Menasha, with Pastor Kevin Kelly officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Steve’s name benefiting pancreatic cancer research will be established.
