Stella G. Collins

Stella Collins passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at St. Paul Elder Services. Stella was 90. She joins her beloved husband Bernard whom she married on this very date in 1942. Stella was born in Appleton on December 29, 1915, daughter of the late Anton and Delia (Ross) Hoersch. On May 30, 1942, she married Bernard Collins; he preceded her in death on December 20, 1981. As a young woman, she worked at Irene’s Beauty Salon in Appleton and eventually took over the shop. Later, the family moved to Kaukauna where Stella owned and operated Stell’s Beauty Salon. Her shop was a fixture in Kaukauna for over twenty years. For many additional years, Stella worked as the hairdresser at Fargo Funeral Home, and was always happy to help area families during a difficult time. In addition to being a well-respected beautician, Stella was also an outstanding seamstress, baker, candy maker, and gardener.

Stella is survived by five children: Kathleen (Steve) Agg of West Bend; Mary (Ken) Eiting of Little Chute; Gene (Lin) Collins of Kaukauna; Ben (Lynne) Collins of Kaukauna; and Greg (Diane) Collins of Kaukauna; eleven grandchildren: Steve (Sue) Agg, Mike (Angie) Agg, Ken Eiting, Sharon (Al) Schroeder, Robb (Jane) Eiting, Tracy (Greg) DeJong, Jethro Spice, Holly (Frank) Van Zeeland, Misty (Jeff) Verhagen, Tracy Koehnke, and Stacy Koehnke; seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother: Sy (Lee) Hoersch of Green Bay; a special niece: Mary Ann Jacobs, as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Stella was preceded in death by an infant daughter Margaret, brothers John, Eugene, and Herbert Hoersch, Edwin (Margaret) Hoersch, and sisters Mary (Frank) LaViolette and Isabella (James) Willey.

The funeral liturgy for Stella will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. Jack Mullarkey officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again Saturday at the church after 9:00 AM. There will be a parish prayer service Friday evening at the funeral home at 8:00 PM

The family would like to extend their thanks to everyone at St. Paul Elder Services for the love and care they showed to Stell. Especially meaningful to the family was the beautiful departure ceremony held as mom was removed from St. Paul Home. We will never forget your kindness.
