Shirley Mae Jansen

March 15, 2003 — September 2, 2003

Shirley M. Jansen
Age 75, of Appleton
passed away at Franciscan Care Center on September 2, 2003 after a courageous battle with heart disease and diabetes. Shirley was born on March 15, 1928 to the late Oscar and Leona (Thelen) Werner in Campbellsport, WI. Mom’s love of people lead her to working as a cook at Marcel’s and bartending at several local taverns. She also enjoyed playing bingo at the Casinos and traveling. Shirley will be remembered for her cooking and ability to create things from scratch. Summertime meant lots of flowers for Shirley, she could always be found outside working in her gardens. She had such a green thumb that her plants had birthdays. Mom also enjoyed spending time with her pets; Bingo, Cuddles and Menace.

Shirley will be missed by her daughter, Betty Van Den Broek, Kaukauna; sons: Terry (Gloria) Scheer, CA, Robert (Sherry) Hintz, Hortonville, and Norman Hintz Jr., Appleton; grandchildren: Carrie (Keith) Sampson, MO, Tom Scheer, Nebraska, Matthew Van Den Broek, MN, Andy and Shaya Hintz, Hortonville.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, John ‘Spooner’ Jansen, and a son-in-law, Gary Van Den Broek.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2003 at 7:00 PM at the funeral home, with Pastor Jerry Hubert officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM until the time of services. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial fund is being established.

A special thank you to the staff at Franciscan Care Center, Appleton Medical Center physicians and the nurses on 4 SW, AMC Ministry group, Kobussen Busses, Dialysis Center, and many others, for their loving care and special considerations shown to Mom.
