Shirley Mae Buetow

Shirley Mae Buetow, 80, of Appleton, passed away Friday morning, December 5, 2008 at Grand Horizons Assisted Living surrounded by her family.
She was born December 24, 1927 in Oshkosh, daughter of the late Emil and Annette (Schroeder) Volkman.
On February 2, 1951 Shirley and Melvin Buetow were united in marriage at Grace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.
She enjoyed tending to her rose garden, knitting, and cooking for her family.
Shirley was a faithful member at Trinity Lutheran Church.
In addition to her husband, Melvin, Shirley is survived by two sons, Reed and Ross (Jennifer) Buetow both of Hortonville; three daughters; Wendy Reigh of Greenville, Beth (Phillip) Atkinson of Bolton, MA, Lynn (Terry) Schadrie of DePere; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Graham, Hannah, Sam, Michael, Adam, Sarah, and Noah, and a sister Laverne (Herman) Schumacher; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Milton Volkman, and son-in-law, James Reigh.
Funeral Services for Shirley will be held Tuesday, 12 noon, December 9, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 209 S. Allen Street, Appleton. Rev. Kurt Kovanen and Rev. Mary Beth Kovanen will be the officiants. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 10:00AM until the time of the service.

A very special thank you to the staff and residents of Grand Horizons Assisted Living, Heartland Hospice, and Home Instead Senior Care for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Shirley.
Shirley will always be remembered as a wonderful wife and mother, and was known for always being there for her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
