Shirley M. Shaw, age 67, died unexpectedly on September 18, 2005 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. She was born in the Waupaca County Town of Lind on March 27, 1938, daughter of the late Melvin and Laurine (Mielke) Wilke. Shirley was a graduate of the Weyauwega High School. On June 25, 1960, she married William Shaw at Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield, the very church in which she was baptized in 1938 and confirmed in 1952. Following her marriage, she lived in New London and Bear Creek before moving to Appleton in 1966, and was a former co-owner of Funtastic Tours. Shirley was a longtime and faithful member of Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton where she served as the church and school secretary for twelve years. Shirley especially enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors. Survivors include her husband: Bill Shaw of Appleton; a daughter: Denise (Charles) Jahnke of Green Bay; two sons: Kevin (Jeanne) Shaw of Menasha and Brian (Jan) Shaw of Appleton; six grandsons: Brandon and Andrew Jahnke, and Jared, Nathan, Luke, and Michael Shaw; her "other" mother: Evelyn Wilke of Weyauwega; three "brothers": Marlin (Carol) Hudziak of Waupaca; Jerald Hudziak of Weyauwega and his friend Donna; Daniel (Ginny) Hudziak of Appleton; Bill’s brothers and sister: James (Sharon) Shaw of Hortonville; David (Sue) Shaw of Fond du Lac; and Rosemary (Tim) Kranzusch of New London, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Laurine Wilke, her father Melvin Wilke, her father-in-law Donald Shaw, her mother-in-law Ruth Shaw, and a sister-in-law Peggy Hudziak.
The Christian Funeral for Shirley will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 22, 2005 at RIVERVIEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 136 W. Seymour Street in Appleton with Rev. Dennis Belter officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hill Cemetery in New London. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and again at the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley's name may be directed to Riverview Ev. Lutheran School.
Shirley will be sadly missed by her family and friends whom she loved dearly.
Her family would like to express their thanks to the medical staff at the Appleton Medical Center and at Theda Clark Medical Center for their care of Shirley during the last hours of her earthly life.
