Shirley Romayne Bowser King passed away May 15, 2023, at age 90. Born to parents Isaac and Minnie Ribblet Bowser on June 18, 1932, in Johnstown, Pa. She graduated Johnstown High School, Johnstown, PA in June 1951, and married Robert King on July 7, 1952, at which time the couple moved to Columbus, Ohio. Shirley worked for 30 years at the Pentagon in Washington DC. She worked in the Federal Government DCSC/DSAC, a post from which she retired in 1985.
Shirley loved her family, friends, bowling and playing cards. While in Columbus, she was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and was also a life member of the Columbus Women's Bowling Association.
Shirley is survived by her son Dana (Tina) King, daughter-in-law Bonnie King, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and sons Russell and Robert "Skip." Her sisters Melvina (Elmer) Rhodes, Ruby (Ralph) Doell, brothers Milfred (Mary) Bowser, Chester Bowser, granddaughter Tanya King and grandson Chris Lehman also preceded her in passing.
Funeral services are still be planned and will take place in Columbus, Ohio. The family will be served by Schoedinger Funeral & Cremation Service.
