Age 73, passed away suddenly at her home on Thursday, July 26, 2001. Shirley was born in Menasha on September 3, 1927, daughter of the late Otto and Linda (Bahr) Landskron. On May 18, 1946, she was united in marriage to Anton ‘Tony” Gaschler in Appleton. Tony preceded Shirley in death in December of 1996, but the couple was blessed to have had the opportunity to celebrate fifty years of dedication to each other on May 18, 1996. For over twenty years, Shirley worked in the bindery depart at the Banta Corporation, retiring in the mid-1980’s. Many will remember her for her daily walks to the Calumet Street Copps Food Center to visit her many friends. Shirley also enjoyed traveling, bowling, square dancing, holiday shopping trips, spending time at her daughter’s cottage, and preparing meals for her family. She was also known to do just a “little bit” of gambling from time to time.
She is survived by two daughters: Patricia (Timothy) Hurley of Appleton and Susan (Michael) Heenan of Appleton; two sons: Larry Gaschler and his special friend Pam of Appleton and Steven (Kathy) Gaschler of Neenah; six grandchildren: Larry Gaschler, Jr. and his special friend Cindi, Becki (Brian) Ehrenberg, Tracie Jochman, Krista Gaschler and her special friend Nguyen, Jeremy (Angela) Gaschler, and Nicholas Heenan; six great-grandchildren: Casey Jochman, McKenzie Jochman, Taylor Ehrenberg, Tierney Ehrenberg, Alex Gaschler, and Autumn Le Gaschler; two sisters: Florence Hinkens of Menasha and Priscilla Karnopp of Wild Rose; two sisters-in-law: Bonnie Landskron of Menasha and Margaret Peterson of Boynton Beach, Florida. Shirley is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and by many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tony in 1996, a granddaughter Beth Ann Heenan, sisters Sylvia McGoey and Mabel Cox, brothers Elmer Landskron and Kenneth Landskron, and by her step-father Emil Nandtke.
Funeral services for Shirley will be held as 12:00 Noon on Monday, July 30, 2001 at FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 326 E. North Street, with Rev. Willis Bloedow officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
