Shirley Klug, age 81 passed away at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Home on April 2, 2014.
Shirley was born in Wisconsin Rapids on February 7, 1933, daughter of the late Harold & Jennie (Tjepkema) Sheets. On June 25, 1960, she married Earl Klug. Shirley graduated from UW Stevens Point in 1955, and was a school teacher in West Allis and Menomonee Falls. Shirley then worked for Colony Oaks for ten years until the time of her retirement.
Shirley is survived by a daughter, Karen (Mike) Koch of Greenville, SC; a sister, Kelley Steinke of Wisconsin Rapids; and a sister-in-law, Elenore Klug of Milwaukee. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces and several church friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Earl in 2013, her parents, an infant sibling Judy Lee, and a special Aunt Tee.
Shirley will miss the “round robin” letters with her college friends, Clara, Lois, and Nancy.
Shirley was an active member at Whiting Community Baptist Church in Neenah, where she served on many ministries and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was also active in American Baptist Women's Ministry and held offices at the association and state levels.
The funeral service for Shirley will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Whiting Community Baptist Church, 1020 Tullar Road in Neenah, with Pastor Nick Seipel officiating. A private burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established at Whiting Community Baptist Church.
