Shirley A. Kabat

We unexpectedly lost Shirley A. Kabat, our dear wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend on September 7, 2018. Shirley dedicated her life to loving her husband, raising her children, spoiling her grandchildren, and creating a warm and welcoming home where everyone was treated as family when they entered through the door. All those around her will miss her bright smile, words of encouragement, patient listening, and unconditional love.

She was born on September 22, 1947 to the late Earl and Olga Streck on a farm in Menasha. She married the love of her life, Michael A. Kabat, on January 15, 1972, and you rarely saw one without the other thereafter.

She is survived by her husband: Michael A. Kabat of Darboy; a daughter: Heidi (Mike) Carpenter of St. Michael, Minnesota and a son: Hans (Sara) Kabat of Plymouth, Minnesota; six loving grandchildren: Kennedy, Reagan, Peyton, Rosabel, Warren, and Drew; three brothers: Bob (Mary “Sue”) Streck of Menasha, Gary (Linda) Streck of Brillion, and Kevin (special friend Tina Olow) Streck of Menasha. She is also survived by her mother-in-law: Gertrude Kabat of Chilton, as well as twelve brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mary (Steve) Dorn of Appleton, Pat (Dave) Bowser of Wautoma, Vicki (Rob) Szklarz of Mequon, Ann (Randy) Lisowe of Chilton, Shirley (Sid) Dyer of Greenwood, Indiana, Donna (Bill) Rowell of Crown Point, Indiana, Dennis (Joan) Kabat of New Holstein, James Wenig of Chilton, John (Barbara) Wenig of Sheboygan Falls, Ed (Debbie) Wenig of Chilton, Michael Wenig of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Paul (Joyce) Wenig of Delafield. Shirley is further survived by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her father-in-law Norbert Kabat and his first wife Gladys Kabat.

The funeral liturgy for Shirley will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at Holy Spirit Parish, Darboy Church, W5831 County Road KK, Appleton with Fr. Robert Kollath, officiating. Visitation will be on Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service.
