Scott P. Braun

Scott P. Braun, age 57, Appleton, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, March 27, 2019. He was born on November 28, 1961, son of Gordon and Gretchen (Hofmann) Braun. Scott married Rene Derks on September 14, 1985 in Wausau.

Scott was an art teacher at Appleton Area School District for 30 years. He was loved by all his students and took great pride in sharing his passion for the arts with others. He was a master painter and ceramicist. Scott was also an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing and hunting with his friends and family. He enjoyed taking long hikes through beautiful forests, especially in the National Parks and sitting by campfires staring at the stars. Scott loved traveling to new places and learning about the history and culture of each place he visited. He loved sharing his good taste in music with others and playing the harmonica for his grand daughter, Rowan. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Scott is survived by his wife, Rene Braun; children: Matthew Braun, Sarah Braun and her daughter, Rowan; father: Gordon (Jan Kottke) Braun; siblings: Mike (Tammy), Erich (Kim), Tim (Jo), Jim (Pamela), Julie Braun and Hayden Knight; parents-in-law: Larry and Patricia Derks; siblings-in-law: Michele (John) Kuhn, Brad (Jenni) Derks and Mark (Jodi) Derks. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Braun and his mother, Gretchen Braun.

The memorial service for Scott will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at First United Methodist Church (325 E. Franklin St., Appleton) with Rev. Markus Wegenast officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 3, at Wichmann Funeral Home (537 N. Superior St., Appleton) from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
