Scherill Mae Dorn, 85, of Appleton went into the loving arms of the Lord on May 14, 2024. She was born on January 27, 1939, near Valders, WI to Norbert and Alice (Bubolz) Sonnabend.
Scherill attended Fox Valley Technical College where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She devoted her career to helping others in various hospitals and nursing facilities in the Fox Valley area. Her caring nature led her to work as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and understanding.
Scherill was known for her happy-go-lucky personality, making friends easily and always putting people at ease. It was in her marriage to Charles Dorn, that she found true companionship and together, they shared over 55 years of marriage. Scherill found joy in the simple things in life, was an avid reader and embraced the great outdoors through various camping trips with her husband.
Scherill is survived by her husband Chuck, her son David (Laurie Porter) Woodcock, grandson Dexter Woodcock, brother Gene (Beverly) Sonnabend, sister Audrey (Keith) Lippert, brother-in-law Dale Dorn and sister-in-law Marian Dorn.
Scherill is preceded in death by her parents, her in laws Norman (Marie) Dorn, sister-in-law Marilyn Dorn and brothers in law Dennis and Arthur J. Dorn.
A visitation for Scherill will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Calvary Chapel, 2136 East Newberry St. in Appleton from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM. Friends and loved ones are welcome to join the family for a meal following the service. Scherill will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, 714 N Owaissa St, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
