Sandra Ann VandenHeuvel, age 76, of Combined Locks, passed away peacefully yet unexpectedly, under a beautiful full moon on January 21, 2023. Sandra was born on January 15, 1947, daughter of the late Sylvester and Marie (Kemps) Lenz. She enjoyed working at the Sweet Shop before graduating from Kimberly High School in 1965. It was in high school where she met her soon to be husband, Jim VandenHeuvel. They married at Holy Name Catholic Church in October of 1967. Sandra enjoyed her work as a waitress at both the Lox Club and Jerry’s Lanes but truly enjoyed creating a loving and comfortable home for her family.
Sandra was the Milwaukee Brewers #1 fan, rarely missing a game. Lucroy was her favorite player before being replaced in her heart by Yelich. Sandra and Jim enjoyed yearly trips to Las Vegas, and occasionally Wendover where there were better casinos. If you could not find Sandra tending to her amazing flower garden, you could finder her in the kitchen as she was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed camping with her family and friends, listening to live bands, and going over the top with Christmas decorations and gifts. Above all these things, Sandra cherished the time she spent with her family.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 55 years: Jim; her children: Lisa and Mark (Erricka) VandenHeuvel; grandchildren: Kyle VandenHeuvel, Corrine (Matt) Steele, and Luke VandenHeuvel; and her siblings: Dick (Barb) Waldhart, Bill (the late Joan) Waldhart, Carol (Tom) Weyenberg, Nancy (Bill) Bassette, Ron (the late Nancy) Lenz, Dan (Bev) Lenz, and Ted (Sarah) Lenz. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and relatives, as well as special friend: Judy Albers. She was welcomed to heaven by her parents: Sylvester and Marie.
A celebration of life will be held this summer. Condolences may be sent to the Jansen Fargo Funeral Home.
