Sandra L. Radtke (Schulz), 77 years, returned to the Lord February 2, 2017 at her home in Appleton, Wisconsin surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 16, 1939 to her parents Ruben H. and Violet F. (Luedke) Schulz in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was a graduate of Appleton High School, Class of 1957. Sandy furthered her education by graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Valparaiso University. Sandy taught 4th grade in Elmhurst, Illinois for many years and taught 5th and 6th grade at Richmond Elementary School in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was also a nursery school teacher at Our Savior's Lutheran School.
When she returned to Appleton on one occasion, her aunt called upon a young man, from a familiar family, to go on a date. On July 31, 1965 Claude H. and Sandra L. Radtke (Schulz) where married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was an accomplished pianist who played with several of the churches in the area. Sandy was also the children's choir director for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and sang in the choir there as well as at Faith Lutheran Church.
Sandy was a voracious reader. It was not uncommon for her to have a book with her wherever she went. Her reading was even interrupted by assisting her husband Claude with landing a muskie. She loved family time spent in Eagle River, where the family vacationed countless times. Special trips with Claude to Florida and South Carolina were fond memories. Most of all Sandy's spiritual comfort and easy smile were a blessing to all who knew her.
Sandy will be missed by her husband Claude; sons Scott (Sara) Radtke and Mike (Jenny) Radtke; grandchildren Hannah and Alexander Radtke, Kate, Allie, and Josh Radtke; and sisters Joanne (Don) Dardis and Peg Schulz. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents Ruben and Violet Schulz.
A Funeral Service for Sandy will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E. Glendale Avenue in Appleton, with Rev. Dan Thews officiating. Private entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N, Superior street from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Wednesday, at Faith Lutheran Church, from 10:00 AM until the time of Service.
Sandy's family thanks the staff of St. Paul Hospice for their extraordinary care and professional manner in supporting her and her family. Memorials to St. Paul Hospice or Faith Lutheran Church are appreciated.
