Formerly of Kaukauna, Age 78, passed away on Friday evening, November 10, 2006 at her home. She was born on February 26, 1928 in Kaukauna to the late Albert and Susan (Schommer) DeBruin. She was a 1946 graduate of Kaukauna High School. On November 10, 1949 she married Nicholas Geurts at Holy Cross in Kaukauna, and passed away on the day they celebrated their 57th wonderful year of marriage. She was a member of the Altar Society at St. Mary’s of the Lake – Crooked Lake Chapel, and served in the Ladies Auxiliary for the Crooked Lake Fire Department. Ruth enjoyed many sports, especially the Brewers, playing cards, fishing, bowling, embroidery, reading, and above all, she enjoyed time spent with her loving family.

She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Nick; her children: daughter: Sue Belthius, Glendale, AZ and her children: Brian (Shauna) Pennings, Larry Pennings; son: Dan (Barb) Geurts, and their children: Adam (Teri) Geurts, Candie (Bill) Thomas, Emmy Geurts, Bill (Nicki) Geurts, Kristy (Miguel) Alvarado; daughter: Kathy (Don) Stoffel, and their sons: Paul and Craig Stoffel; son: Tom (Anolee) Geurts; daughter: Bev (Dale) Oudenhoven, Freedom, and their children: Eric and Anna Oudenhoven; son: John (Mary) Geurts, and their daughters: Nicole and Ashley Geurts; son: Randy (Jana) Geurts, Wrightstown, and their children: Alyssa, Mara, and Evan Geurts, as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Ruth is further survived by her brothers: Carl (Grace) DeBruin, Kaukauna; Cal DeBruin, Kaukauna; sisters: Betty (Rich) Van Wychen, Kaukauna, Mary Alice (Ralph) Meulemans, Kaukauna; brother-in-law: Clifford Weyers, Kaukauna; sisters-in-law: Gloria DeBruin, Kaukauna, Pat (Gerald) Romenesko, Appleton, Betty (Paul) Wilke, Appleton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Nicholas; son-in-law, Roger Belthius; sisters: Mildred (Jerry) Smith, Mae DeBruin, Mary Lou Weyers; brothers: Al (Martha) DeBruin, Fritz DeBruin; sisters-in-law: Joan DeBruin, Adel (Ray) Evers; parents-in-law: Joseph (Verna) Geurts.

Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 7:00 P.M. at the Fargo Funeral Home (400 West Wisconsin Avenue). Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
