Age 75, was called home by her Lord on Easter Sunday March 31, 2002, at her home. Ruth was born on June 8, 1926, in Grand Chute to the late Arthur and Rose (Sylvester) Brockman. She married Robert C. Verbeten on May 14, 1949, in Appleton, and enjoyed over 52 years of marriage. Ruth was employed at Scolding Locks for over 25 years. She was an avid fisherman and cardplayer, especially enjoying the time spent at their cottage. Ruth was a member of the Kimberly American Legion, Post #60. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her loving husband; Robert; her son , James (Ann) Verbeten, Appleton, and their children, Peter (Dawn) Verbeten and Michael (Angela) Verbeten, her son, Randy (Sue) Verbeten, Union Grove; and their children Nathan and Tally Verbeten; her great-grandchildren, Brittanie and Annabelle; her daughter, Myrtle (Kenneth) Shepherd, Neenah, and their children Stacey and Jason; her daughter, Bertha (Bernard) Johnson, Neenah, and their children John, Jamie, Sarah, Elizabeth and Amanda; her brother, Gilbert Brockman, Appleton; her sister, Martha Kahler, Appleton; her sister, Jeanette Wilz, Menasha; her brother, Raymond (Katie) Brockman, Little Chute; her brother, Cliff (Cathy) Brockman, Little Chute; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl; her brother-in-law, Elmer Kahler; her sister-in-law, Mary Brockman; and her brother-in-law, Cliff Wilz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at ST. PAUL EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 North Morrison Street, Appleton, with Rev. John C. Baumann officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial has been established in Ruth’s name. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the staff at Appleton Medical Center, ThedaClark Medical Center, St. Elizabeth Hospital and Oakridge Gardens for their loving care.
