Joliet, IL formerly of Appleton
Age 97, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2005 in Joliet, IL. She was born in Milwaukee on July 4th, 1908 to the late Gustave and Lizette (Geyer) Eimerman. On October 27, 1934 she married Herbert J. Becker and they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away on February 3, 1999. Ruth was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing, and was the head nurse of the OB/GYN department of St. Elizabeth Hospital until her retirement in 1972. During her employment at St. E’s she was instrumental in organizing and setting up the gift shop, and volunteered many hours in the gift shop after retirement. She was a member of Wisconsin Nurses Association, Appleton Noon Lions Auxiliary, and United Commercial Traveler’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Bridge, and cherished the time spent with her family at their cottage on the Chain of Lakes in Waupaca.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Thomas (Carol) Becker, Joliet, IL, Jean (Steve) McClain, Wilmington, DE; Granddaughters: Dr. Michelle McClain and her husband, Andrew Kanemori, Elkton, MD, Sarah McClain, Baltimore, MD, Carrie Becker, Joliet, IL; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Earl (Una) Becker, Waukesha; as well as nephews, nieces, and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Herbert, she was preceded in death by her brother: Gustave F. Eimerman; and her sisters: Martha Eimerman, and Florence Melter.
Funeral services for Mrs. Becker will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Wichmann Funeral Home (537 N. Superior Street) at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Jane Voigts officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Memorials are appreciated to First United Methodist Church.
