Ruth Ellen Johnson

Ruth E. Johnson, 70, passed away on May 30, 2022, at ThedaCare Medical Center, Appleton. She was born on October 30, 1951, in Neenah, the daughter of William and Erna (Paigel) Callaway. Ruth graduated from Neenah High School, the Class of 1970. She was united in marriage to Dale Johnson Sr., her high school sweetheart, on August 12, 1971, in Iron Mountain, MI. Ruth enjoyed counted cross stitch, reading, bowling and cheering on the Green Bay Packers over the years. She was employed at Mihm’s Charcoal Grill and J.J. Keller before her children were born. At that time, she dedicated her life to being a mom and raising her 3 sons. After the children were older, she went back to work as a bank teller for many years at Banta, currently Prospera. Ruth will be remembered most for her love of family and the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dale Sr.; 3 sons: Dale (Nicole) Jr., Christopher (significant other Revea Erickson), and David Johnson; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 siblings: Susan Radtke, Sally (Bill) Dey, Mary (Carl) Kanaman, and William (Jean) Callaway; 2 brothers-in-law: Dennis (Rochelle) Johnson and Tom Buck; other relatives and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter: Sapphire; and a sister: Linda Buck.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm, on Monday, June 6, 2022, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Laemmrich Chapel, 312 Milwaukee St., Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

Ruth’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the ICU staff at ThedaCare Medical Center, Appleton for their wonderful care, compassion, and kindness; as well as the doctors and nurses from ThedaCare Medical Center, Neenah, and Froedert Medical Center, Wauwautosa for their care over the last 8 years.
