Age 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at The Hospice at Cherry Meadows following a lengthy illness. She was born on April 15, 1914 in the Town of Little Wolf in Waupaca County the daughter of the late William and Mary (Rentz) Prellwitz. On June 6, 1952 she married Bertram “Lloyd” Rewey in Winona, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1990. Ruth was a longtime member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her brother Clarence (Bernice) Prellwitz of Manawa, Wisconsin, her niece Hazel (Earl) Jahsman of Manawa, Ardis Peterson of Neenah, Ramona Bahrke of Appleton, a great nephew David Bahrke of Milwaukee, a great niece Sandra Bahrke-Swinko and her husband Paul of Washington DC, and a great great niece Claire Swinko; many dear nieces, nephews, family and friends, and is also survived by a sister-in-law Mattie Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband Bertram “Lloyd” Rewey, and her nephew George Bahrke, her sisters: Lillian Suehs, Alma (Emil) Bigalke, Clara (George) Zempel, Ann (Herb) Niemuth, Elizabeth Klotzbuecher, Lorraine (Walter) Flater and an infant brother at birth.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 1:00 PM at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 129 South Mason Street in Appleton with the Rev. Jeffrey A. Verbeke and Rev. Paul T. Schuler officiating. Interment will take place at Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery in Winchester, Wisconsin. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Friday from 5-8 PM and on Saturday at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. A memorial fund is established.
