Ruth F. Ristow, Appleton, 78, died Wednesday afternoon, May 13, 2004, following a short illness. She was born February 17, 1926, to the late Melvin and Theresa (Nienhaus) Grootemont, in Appleton, where she was a resident all of her life. Ruth enjoyed crafts, she make ornaments and ornamental cards; she also enjoyed sewing, where she made curtains and quilts. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Alvin G. Ristow, to whom she had been married for 59 years; five children, Sue Ristow, Green Bay; Robert (Judy) Ristow, New London; John Ristow and his special friend, Debra George, Crivitz; Rose Fischer, Las Vegas; Mary (Tom) Patza, Seymour. Ruth will also be sadly missed by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three children, William Ristow, Barbara Verrier and James Ristow, by a brother John Grootemont and a sister, Margaret Fries. The funeral liturgy for Ruth will be held at 11:30 am, Monday, May 17, 2004, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street, with Father Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 am, Monday until the time of the mass. A memorial fund is being established.
