Ruth E. Lorge

July 12, 1924 — May 16, 2003

Ruth Emma Lorge
formerly Wilke
Neenah

Ruth Emma Lorge was called to the loving arms of her Savior on May 16th, 2003. She spent her life as a kind, thoughtful, and caring person. Her gentleness extended to all she knew. Ruth spent her childhood in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, and participated in many school activities. She was especially talented at archery and was a state archery champion in 1938. She attended Downer College in Milwaukee. She worked for the Globe Union Company in Milwaukee. Ruth married Harold Lorge on May 4th, 1956 and was blessed with four children. When her children were able to look after themselves, she went to work for the Sanitary District 4 as a bookkeeper/clerk. She retired in 1988 and enjoyed retirement activities of flower gardening and cross-word puzzles. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and could always be counted on to play a rousing game of cribbage. Her nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild were a source of pride and entertainment. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Erma Wilke, her in-laws Edwin and Elsie Lorge, her brother Richard Wilke, her daughter Amy Marie Lorge, and brothers-in-law Roman Lorge, Dan Dayton, and Arthur Jetzer. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Harold, daughter Susan (David) Erdmann, and sons David (Diane) Lorge and Mark (Patti) Lorge. She is further survived by her sister Doris (James) Haupt, grandchildren Joshua, Scott, Kristin, and Kevin Lorge, Michele (fiancé Michael Pues) and Nicholas Erdmann, Mallory and Elizabeth Lorge, Paul Van Wychen and his special friend Sara Freidel, and her great-grandchild Brianna Van Wychen. Other survivors include her sisters-in-law Elvira Jetzer, Mabel (Kenneth) Nelson, Marian Lorge, Davida Wilke, and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, May 19, 2003 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 East Glendale Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Mark H. Abram officiating. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, May 18 from 5 until 8 p.m., and again at the church on Monday from 10 until 10:45 a.m.
