Age 87, passed away on May 6, 2008 at Living Hope in Twin Lakes. Roy was born on May 8, 1920 in Seymour, Wisconsin to the late Jay and Sadie (Smith) Sherwood. Roy entered the Army in 1942 and served honorably during World War II, during which time he married his late wife, Ruth (Stutzman) Sherwood. After Roy's military service, he worked for the Schlitz Brewing Company where he retired after 35 years. Roy enjoyed woodworking, remembering family birthdays, family gatherings and spending time at the cottage.

Roy is lovingly survived by his children: Alan (Milly) Sherwood of Hortonville, Larry (Sally) Sherwood of Menomonee Falls; grandchildren: Laura Sherwood of Wauwatosa, Louise (Steven) Abramowski of Thiensville, Christina (Josh) Hudson of Appleton, Ruth Sherwood of Wauwatosa; brother: Glen (Charlotte) Sherwood of Crivitz; sisters: Vera Holzer of Seymour, Hazel (Brian) Kemp of Hortonville; special sister-in-law: Dorothy Paul of Appleton and brother-in-law, Wally Stutzman of Black Creek. Roy is preceded in death by his sister: Opal Smoot, June Holzer; brother: Frank Sherwood and many other family members.

Funeral services for Roy will be held on May 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Star of Hope Chapel at Highland Memorial Park, 3131 N. Richmond Street, Appleton, with Pastor Mark Klaisner officiating. Friends may call at the chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Roy's family wish to extend a special thank you to the staff at Living Hope, Aurora Hospice and Menomonee Falls Adult Day Care Center.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials in Roy's name to the St. James United Methodist Church, 100 W. Capitol Drive, Appleton, WI 54911.
