Age 78, entered eternal life on December 14, 2001 at Sun Bridge Nursing Home in Tustin, California, after a lengthy illness. Rosie was born July 9, 1923, in Kimberly, daughter of the late Anton and Christine (Kamps) Vanden Boom. She married Joe “Sam” Van Sambeek at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church on June 21, 1945.
Sam and Rosie were members of Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Kimberly, where Rosie was past president of the Christian Mothers Society and was a member of the Post #60 American Legion Auxiliary. They relocated to California with their children in 1956. Later, Sam retired from his job as a tinsmith at Kimberly Clark Corporation in Fullerton and Rosie retired from the Quality Control Department at the Monsanto Corporation. In their retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling around the country, visiting family and friends.
Rosie is survived by a daughter: Kathy (Russ) Bedale of Laguna Nigel, California; a son: Mark (Sheila) Van Sambeek of Orange, California; two grandchildren: David and Michelle Van Sambeek; a son-in-law: Peter Wesselink of Santa Ana, California; two sisters: Althea (Bob) Valentyn of Kimberly and Delphine (Joe) Diermeier of Winter Haven, Florida; a brother: Carl (Pat) Vanden Boom of Kimberly.
Rosie was preceded in death by her husband Sam in 1986, a daughter Susan Wesselink in 1998, a brother Jim Vanden Boom in 1986, and a sister-in-law Gertie Vanden Boom in 1987.
Funeral services for Rosie were held December 20, 2001, in Santa Ana, California.
