Rosella E. Shablak

Age 89, peacefully joined her Savior on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at the Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. Rosella was born in Kaukauna on February 4, 1915, daughter of the late William and Cora (Cotter) Dery. On April 4 of that same year, she was baptized into the Christian family, and was confirmed in her faith on April 22, 1928 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Kaukauna. On October 9, 1935, she married Joseph Shablak in Kaukauna; he preceded her in death in July of 2001. She and Joe were longtime and faithful members of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Kaukauna, and having had no children, Rosella devoted herself very much to volunteer activities at the church and school. Over the years, she volunteered countless hours as a member of the adult choir, the adult bible study group, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society, and also assisted in various school classrooms over the years.

Rosella is survived by a sister: Isabelle Griffith of Kimberly; a brother: Joseph (Joyce) Dery of Weyauwega; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends at church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe in 2001, and sisters Diane (Walter) Yokeum and Vivian (Stanley) Barker.

Funeral services for Rosella will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 1, 2004 at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna with Rev. Mark Luetzow officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund.

During their later years, Joe and Rosella received great comfort and companionship from their great-niece and Godchild, Wendy Powell and her daughter Alyssa. They were always thankful for their friendship and assistance.

The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Parkside Care Center for the wonderful care they gave Rosella. Also, the Heartland Hospice staff made her final days very comfortable. Thank you all so very much.
