Age 79, passed away unexpectedly in Appleton on Tuesday, August 26, 2003. She was born in Oshkosh on May 19, 1924, daughter of the late Edward and Emma (Totz) Smith. Rose was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton. She enjoyed reading and spending time shopping in Door County. Family was important to Rose and she spent a lot of time with her sister, Viola, and her nieces and nephews.

Rose is survived by her sister Viola Wagner of Appleton; two nephews: David Wagner of Green Bay and James (fiancé, Jane Garland) of Potsdam, NY; niece, Patty (Rod) Fisk of Neenah; five great nephews: Andrew Wagner, Daniel (Kathy) Wagner, Grant Fisk, Adam Fisk and Derrick (fiancé, Lynn Ann Czarnecki) Wagner; great niece, Jessica Fisk; and a great-great niece, Megan Wagner. Rose is further survived by cousins and friends.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents; great niece, Megan Wagner; and a brother-in-law, Frank Wagner.

The memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2003, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Ted Gulhaugen officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
