Age 70, died Tuesday morning, March 23, 2004 following an extended illness. She was born June 18, 1933, to the late Louis and Helen (Jaeckels) Schmidt in Hollandtown and had been an area resident all of her life. Rose was the co-owner, for 25 years, of Flanagan’s Party-Port, which opened in 1957 and later was known as Flanagan’s Stop & Shop. Following this she opened the Super Slim Diet Salon, on College Avenue and was then employed by Accurate Alignment. Rose married James T. Baltus on April 14, 1992, in Las Vegas, after knowing each other for seven weeks. She was a member of St. Leonard Catholic Church, Laona. Survivors include her husband, James T. Baltus; a son, Patrick Flanagan and his special friend, Judi Austin, Greenville; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Jeff Frischner, California; four grandchildren, James, Joseph, Victoria and McKayla Frischner; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Elmer Buechler, Wrightstown; Betty and Bill Nelson, California; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Elaine Schmidt, Kaukauna; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Schmidt, Seymour; a step-grandson, Michael (Susan) Goodin; two step-great grandsons, Mike and Billy Goodin and the rest of the Baltus Family; special friends, Linda Kenseth, Mary Ann and Clete Feldkamp, Wayne and Rose Konitzer, Mary and Jim Rheinhart; a sister-in-law, Val Flanagan and the rest of the Flanagan Family; and her faithful friends in Arizona. She was preceded in death by a brother Paul Schmidt and an infant sister, Helen Lou Schmidt. A memorial funeral liturgy for Rose will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 27, 2004, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 West Marquette Street, with Father Donald Zuleger officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Franciscan Care and Rehabilitation Center, especially Brenda, Marie and Marion for their loving care and support and to all of the family and friends who visited.
