RASMUSSEN, RONALD L. “RON”

Ron Rasmussen, of Shawano, formerly of Appleton, 66, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2010 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born August 16, 1943 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin to Walter and Emma (Lifke) Rasmussen. He was raised in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin. He married Ann Ehlers in 1964 and they had two sons, Scott and Brian. They later divorced, but remained close friends. He retired following a long career at Appleton Papers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Walter, brothers-in-law Clarence Fabry, Leonard Sederstrom, Sr., nephew Leonard Sederstrom, Jr., and his close friends Ann Rasmussen Grace and brother-in-law Alfred Johnson.

He is survived by his son Scott and his daughter-in-law Pam of Eau Claire; his son Brian Rasmussen of Appleton; his two grandchildren, Erik and Kiersten; four sisters: Betty Sederstrom, Shawano; Dorothy Johnson, Gillett; Donna Fabry, Green Bay and Darlene Mersddorph, Oconto Falls; two brothers: Milo Rasmussen, Denver, CO and Lyle Rasmussen, Oconto Falls, special friends, Laurel Johnson and Cindy Pulver, his dog Mia and many other relatives and good friends.
Ron was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend. He treasured time with friends and family and of course, antiquing. Ron was blessed with two liver transplants which allowed him many wonderful additional years with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching Erik and Kiersten's baseball games, finding treasures at thrift sales and antique stores, gardening and spending time with Mia at his “log cabin” home near Shawano.
The visitation for Ron will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to www.caringbridge.org or the University of Wisconsin Hospital's Douglas T. Miller Memorial Transplant Fund. Also, the family asks that you please consider signing your organ donor card in Ron's memory.
The family would like to thank all the transplant staff especially Dr. Pirsch, at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, and the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital's CCU in Eau Claire, who were so kind during his final days.
