With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Roger (Rog) James Simpson, age 82, on Saturday, February 22, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Rog was born in Galesburg, Illinois July 15, 1942 to parents Fern Moore and James Simpson.
Roger was a retiree of Bergstrom/Gladfelter Paper after 40 years of service. He had proudly continued his education through various paper-making and management courses, had a two year Bachelor of Arts Degree, served on the board of the Bergstrom Credit Union, was a member of Management Club and gave his time to Junior Achievement.
Although bravely battling through many health struggles during his life, he persevered to enjoy traveling, golfing, skiing, boating, time at the health club and adopting sheltie rescue dogs, treating each one as a valuable family member. Most importantly, he was a loving brother, friend and patriarch to his family. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his compassion, humility, sense of humor and heart of gold.
He began a new journey early last year to live at Eagle Point Assisted Living in Appleton after residing in his beloved home in Menasha for 60 years.
Rog is survived by his sister Beverly (significant other John Cozzuol) Olson of Fox Crossing, Marlene (Dennis) Hillyer of Appleton, brother Melvin (Sheila) Moore of Neenah and various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Dick Olson, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
