Age 70, passed away on Friday, December 07, 2001, due to a brief and unexpected illness. Roger was born in the Town of Pella, Shawano County, on September 8, 1931, son of the late Martin and Ottilie (Konkel) Wege. On May 25, 1957, Roger married Grace Miller, and they have enjoyed over 44 years of marriage. Roger was a teacher at the Fox Valley Technical Institute for 35 years, retiring in 1993. He loyally served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, 1952 – 1954. Roger was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, serving as a trustee and usher. He was a member of Trout Unlimited and the American Legion. Roger is survived by his wife, Grace; daughter, Lorrie (Robert) Krynock, Appleton; 2 sons, Robert (DeAnn) Wege and their children Andrew and Stephanie, McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey; David (Kathy) Wege and their daughter Rachel, Hortonville; his sister, Laura Kazda of Kingsford, Michigan; 2 sisters in law, Lulu Wege of Bowler, Wisconsin and Anita (Helmut) Stojke, Appleton; 2 brothers-in-law, Wally (Jan) Miller; and Cliff Manske, both of Appleton. He is further survived by nieces and nephews. Roger is preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother. The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 East Glendale Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Paul Brinkman officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again at the church on Tuesday from 12:15 p.m. until the time of service. The family extends a special thank you to Roger’s caregivers during his years of quadraplegia, especially Lois and Crystal. Further thanks go to the doctors and nurses at Theda Clark. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. Roger was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
