Schoenfeld, Roger J.
Roger J. Schoenfeld, age 73, of Appleton, passed away Monday evening, January 28, 2008. He was born April 5, 1934, to the late Jack and Bernice (Yack) Schoenfeld, in Kenosha, where he was a resident until moving to Appleton in 1998. Roger served with the U. S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and again in 1961. He served with the Kenosha County Sheriffs Department, retiring in 1993, as Chief Deputy Sheriff following 32 years of service. Roger graduated from the FBI Academy in 1976. Roger married Linda Dragancewicz in 1957: she preceded him in death in 1995. Roger was a member of the Tripoli Shrine of Milwaukee, where he served as president for two years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 47 of Milwaukee and Masonic Lodge 51 of Appleton. He is survived by his wife, Meredith, whom he married January 15, 1997; three daughters, Lee Tassotti, Racine; Stacy (Steven) Krause, Somers, WI; Beth (Bart) DeStasio, Appleton; six grandchildren, Carl Schoepke, Cristine (Miguel) Escobedo, Marc Tassotti, Mindy Preston, Matthew DeStasio and David DeStasio. A memorial service for Roger will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Fox Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2600 East Philip Lane, www.fvuuf.org, with Reverend Roger Bertschausen officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 pm, Sunday, February 10, 2008, until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial funds are being established for the Shriners Children's Hospital and Lawrence University.
