Roger Edwin Gersmehl

Roger E. Gersmehl passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at the Garden View Assisted Care Facility. He was affectionally known as Pappy to his family. He was born on March 17, 1942, in Manitowoc, WI the son of Lester and Flora (Hemb) Gersmehl. He married his wife, Ruth Ann and had five children together. Roger worked at the Elm Tree Bakery (later changed to Rich Products) in Appleton from the time it opened its doors until it shut its doors. He was a hard-working man, sometimes working 3 jobs at the same time to support his family. He will be remembered as a man who could not say no whenever anyone asked for help or a favor. He made sure his house was open to all and loved to host neighborhood parties and corn roasts. He and his wife loved to meet up with and have monthly dinners with his High School friends, Glenn and Ruthie Lutze. He enjoyed his sports, especially softball. He played many years on the church softball team and loved to watch the local fast pitch softball league play their games down at Sunset Beach in Kimberly. He rarely missed watching a game on tv when the Brewers played. He loved going to the Off-Road Truck Races and watching Nascar. But his favorite was watching the Green Bay Packers play. 

Roger is survived by his children: Robert (Stacey), Rhonda, Randall (Patrice), Richard and Robynn; Grandchildren: Natasha (Luke), Tyler (Kristy), Karra (Matt), Brandon (Kerri), Jordon (Tessa), Allison (Max), Kevin (Shelby), Ryan (Triese), Garrett and Connor; Great Grandchildren: Kaysin, Knox, Blair, Kennedy, Montgomery and Cooper and his Sister Luann (Kenneth) Wagner.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife RuthAnn; baby sister Diane; and parents Lester and Flora.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 1592 S. Oneida Street, Menasha. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the Memorial Service at 11:00 am. 

Roger’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah following his surgery and cannot express their gratitude enough to the wonderful caregivers that took extraordinary care for him over the past few years at the Garden View Assisted Care Facility.
