Robert Frank Winters, age 92, of Freedom passed from his earthly life into his Eternal Life on December 23, 2023, at Country Villa in Little Chute with his loving and caring children at his side.
Bob was born on March 27, 1931, in Seymour Wisconsin to Elmer and Frieda Winters. He was baptized as a child of God on April 19, 1931. Bob attended Oak Leaf School and later Seymour High School. He worked as a farm hand during high school.
In September 1952, Bob met the love of his life, Beverly Wichman, at an Older Youth Group gathering. A year later they were engaged and were married at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church on September 4, 1954.
Bob had a position at Menasha Corporation until he retired in 1992. At that time, he ran a lawn service to keep himself occupied for many years.
Bob loved working outside, helping on his father-in-law’s farm when needed, helping at the church and school, camping with the family, and being a foster parent for many years. Bob loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and especially loved the great-grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his daughters: Connie Rohde, Cathy (Mark) DeDeker, and his son; Bruce (Lori) Winters. Six grandchildren: Crystal (Ezra Sr) Hill, Nicole (David) Lemke, Nathan (Hayley) Rohde, Derrick (Jessica) DeDeker, Brandon (Lauren) DeDeker, Laura (Tad) Dontje. Eight great-grandchildren: Parker, Eli and Avery DeDeker, Ezra Jr and Hadley Hill, Alexys DeDeker, and Landen and Levi Dontje. He is further survived by his sister, Shirley Wichman, Ken (Wanda) Winters. Brother-in-law Gary (Linda) Wichman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly, his parents and his brother William Winters, and his son-in-law Orlin Rohde.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at St. Peter Ev. Luth. Church N2740 French Road, Appleton. Rev. Jim Fleming will be officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 1-3pm with a brief service following at 3pm.
The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to Country Villa and staff for the love and care they showered on Bob. Bluestone Physicians and Moments Hospice have been extremely caring and giving to both Bob and the family during the last several months.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be set up for St. Peter Lutheran School Tuition Assistance.
Dad, you were an amazing man! Loving, caring, and always with a gentle heart. We could not have asked God for a better Father than the one he gave us. You will be extremely missed by your entire family as well as so many other lives you have touched. We are so glad you could enjoy Christmas in your eternal home, but you will be missed. We love you and know we will see you again. Rest in the love of the Lord.
