Age 67, died peacefully at his home Sunday morning, November 17, 2002. He was born June 17, 1935 the son of Alvin and Mildred (Beisner) Brown in Versailles, Ohio. Upon graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, he began his career as a Research Chemist at NCR in Dayton, Ohio. In 1972, he was transferred to Appleton Papers and continued his work as a Research Chemist until 1992. He later consulted for Hilton Davis in Cincinnati, Ohio and worked in Chattanooga, Tennessee for Arcade, Inc., the world’s leader in fragrance and other cosmetic samplers. Bob enjoyed traveling, bird watching, gardening, playing games with the family and reading to his grandchildren. He was an active church member throughout his life, serving as an elder, a trustee and on the board of stewardship. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Brown of Versailles, Ohio. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Linda (Oelke) and 4 children: Jill (Richard) Potter, Palatine, IL; Brian (Janet) Brown, Appleton; Todd (Carolyn) Brown, Kaukauna; and Alison (Traeton) Garl, Appleton; 7 grandchildren, Margot, Kira and Lani Potter, Douglas and William Brown, and Emma and Jack Brown. He is also survived by his mother, Mildred (Beisner) Brown; three sisters, Betty (Eugene) Meyer, Janet (Fred) Banks, Nancy (Joe) Taylor; and his brother James (Anne) Brown. Despite a long and successful professional career, Bob placed more value in being a loving husband, devoted father and proud grandfather. He was admired and loved by many. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, November 22, 2002 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 East Glendale Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Paul R. Brinkman officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
