Robert W. Sachs

Robert Sachs, age 80, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday evening, December 10, 2007. Bob was born in Appleton on August 11, 1927, son of the late William and Mary (Klitzke) Sachs. He attended Appleton High School, and for thirty-seven years was employed by Appleton Papers Locks Mill. On July 14, 1951, he married the former Helen Leick at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton; she survives. He is further survived by his six loving children: Bob (Jan) Sachs of Kaukauna; Bill Sachs of Las Vegas; Debbie Sigl of Oconto and her fiancé Bill Udell; Becky (David) Gerber of Vero Beach, Florida; Brian Sachs of Las Vegas and his special friend Delia Brown; and David Sachs of Kaukauna; five grandchildren: Stacy (Gary) Van Dyke of Kimberly; Brad Sachs of Kaukauna; Jenny Sigl of Wausau; Joe Sigl of Wausau; and Brady Ryan of Fond du Lac; a sister: Doris Williams of Appleton; a brother-in-law: Nicholas Leick of Kaukauna; and four sisters-in-law: Marie Hartjes of Combined Locks; Dolores Schuh of Kaukauna; Betty Vander Wyst of Combined Locks; and Hildegarde Leick of Kaukauna. Bob is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother Alma (Roepke) Sachs, a son Barry Sachs, sisters-in-law Phoebe Leick and Florence (Julius) Hartjes; and brothers-in-law Steve Williams, Edward Hartjes, Hilton Schuh, Eldor Leick, Roger “Butter” Vander Wyst, and Elmer (Ann) Leick.

The Christian Funeral for Bob will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna with Rev. Karl Schultz officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the hour of the service. In honor to order Bob’s wishes, a memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
