Robert M. Ihlenfeldt, 78, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, from an aortic aneurysm and has battled with multiple myeloma for the last four years. Bob was born on April 29, 1939, in Kewaunee, to the late Millard and Louise (Levy) Ihlenfeldt. Robert was a 1957 graduate of Kewaunee High School. Bob served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959, and then married the late Judith Olsen on April 30, 1960. He was a hardworking man with many trades and talents from farming to construction.
Robert is survived by his children: Scott Ihlenfeldt, of Kewaunee; Randy (Sheri) Ihlenfeldt, of Kewaunee; and Sherry (Jeff) Meyer, of Appleton; grandchildren: Jim (Maggie) Ihlenfeldt, Kari (Kelly) Ihlenfeldt, Ryan (Susan) Budzban, Victoria (Henry) Polanco-Gonzalez, Ben (Jena) Schimmel, and Kendra (Jake) Rateau; several great grandchildren; siblings: Kathleen (Martin) Burkhardt and John (Diane) Ihlenfeldt; special family friend Timothy Rodgers; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, former wife, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. SUPERIOR ST., APPLETON. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton, with full military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
Bob’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Appleton, Milwaukee, and Green Bay VA’s; the staff at ThedaCare Hospital, New London; the staff in the ICU at ThedaCare Hospital, Appleton; the EMT’s, and all other medical staff who helped Dad, for their care and compassion through this journey.
