Robert J. Yost

Age 86, died on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at Appleton Medical Center, with his wife Ella and his family at his side. Robert was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 31, 1918, son of the late John and Catherine (Johnstone) Yost. He moved to New London, WI and attended Most Precious Blood Catholic School. Robert then graduated from Washington High School in 1937. In 1940, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served until 1946. Robert took part in most of the war in the South Pacific. He was a survivor of the U.S.S. Yorktown during the battle of Midway. Robert was always proud of being a U.S. citizen and having served his Country. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Kimberly. Robert was also a member of the U.S.S. Yorktown, CV-5 Club; the U.S.S. Ashland, LSD Club; VFW Post, 2778, Appleton and the AARP. He married Ella Santkuyl on July 6, 1955 and they have enjoyed over 48 years of marriage together. Robert will be greatly missed by his wife, Ella; brother, Jim (Jean) Yost; nieces and nephews: Michael J. (Juanita) Yost (godson); Thomas J. Yost; Mary C. Yost (goddaughter); Peter R. Yost; great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and special friend, Carol Gilson. He was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Santkuyl; niece, Paula; and sister-in-law, Mary Surprise. At Robert’s request, private family services will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly. The family would like to thank the staff at AMC, especially Dr. Michael Johnson.
