Kaukauna
Age 77, passed away after a brief battle with lung cancer at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna on Thursday, May 4, 2006. He was born in the Town of Freedom on April 23, 1929, son of the late John and Dora (Verhasselt) Green. He was proud to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On June 10, 1953 he married his former wife, Beatrice (Geurts) Green. Bob owned and operated his dairy farm in Freedom until 1984.
Bob is survived by his children: Nancy (Dean) VanVreede of Freedom and their children: Dawn (Jay) Midbon, Keith and Ashley (special friend, Kyle Vande Wettering); Kathy (Greg) Vosters of Freedom and their children: Lindsey and Phil; Diane (Ron) Geurts and their children: Dana (Archie) Barribeau and Chad (special friend, Jessica Robinson); Mary (special friend, Mark Zeegers) Green of Little Chute and her daughter, Jenna Vanden Heuvel; Mike (Brenda) Green of Freedom and their children: Jacob, Garret and Dwight; and one great grandson, Jace Carl Midbon; brother, John (Germaine) Green of Freedom; sisters: Rosella Kortz of Little Chute, Verna Berken of Little Chute, Eleanor (Bud) Bowers of Wrightstown, and Frances Moudry of Kaukauna; sister-in-law, Harriet Green of Little Chute; brother-in-law: Jim Van Vreede of Kaukauna; and his godchildren: Carol Lien, Dan Green, Norman Green and Ken Bowers.
He is preceded in death by his son, Dennis, who passed away in 1974; sisters: Charlotte Green, Esther Van Vreede and Florence Schmidt; brothers: Norbert, Bill (Lorraine) and Vince (Elaine) Green; brothers-in-law: Leo Weiland, Orin Kortz, Harry Moudry and Gerald Berken.
The funeral liturgy will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2006 at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, N4088 County Trunk E, Freedom, with Fr. John Schuetze officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, May 7, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and a military prayer conducted by the V.F.W. Post 7692 of Freedom, and at the church on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Bob’s name is being established for Alzheimer’s research.
The family extends a special thank you to St. Paul Home, St. Paul Elder Daycare Services, and ThedaCare Hospice for their compassionate care of Bob.
