Bob died unexpectedly surrounded by his family at 12:30 PM on Monday, June 20, 2005, at the age of 48. Bob was born in Appleton on September 18, 1956, the son of Robert, Sr., and Jane (Klingert) Dengel of Appleton. Bob was a graduate of Appleton East High School, and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater in Marketing. Bob loved the outdoors, especially working in his garden. He also enjoyed spending time biking, backpacking, cross-country skiing, and photography. At the start of his career, Bob worked as a wine consultant in the Denver area; a city he loved and hoped to return to some day. He was formerly employed as the Marketing and Sales Director for RSJ Construction, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He is survived by his parents; five brothers and sisters: Judy Birschbach of Appleton; Mary (Alan) Bill of Denver; James Dengel of Little Chute; Edward (Anita) Dengel of Appleton; Catherine Dengel of Neenah; a niece: Jacquelyn (Eric) Herrera of Orlando; four nephews: Mark Birschbach of Chicago; Barry Birschbach of Ohio; Joseph Dengel of Appleton; and Thomas Dengel of Appleton; and six step-nieces and nephews. Bob is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The funeral liturgy will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 23, 2005, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton with Fr. John Becker officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Bob’s name.
