Age 69, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, November 3, 2005. Bob was born in Kaukauna on January 9, 1936, son of the late Wilford and Cyrilla (Robedeaux) Sager. He graduated from the Kaukauna High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Northland College in Ashland in June of 1959. On August 4, 1962, Bob married the former Suzanne Berens in Kaukauna and continued to further his education. He received a Master’s Degree in Biology from St. Thomas University in St. Paul, Minnesota in July of 1972. Bob taught biology, science, and coached football at high schools in Dowagiac, Michigan as well as in Rio, Wisconsin. He will be best remembered for the more than thirty years of service to the Chilton High School where he taught biology and other sciences. While at Chilton, Bob also coached basketball and track, was an assistant football coach for eight years, and head football coach for eleven years. He retired in 1993, but continued his work by substitute teaching in Kaukauna and Chilton, as well as working as an assistant coach for the Kaukauna High School football program. Bob’s lifelong hobby was racing pigeons, and he was a longtime member of the Fox River Valley Pigeon Racing Club. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially trout fishing and hunting with his children and grandchildren, or just by taking a long walk in the woods. He was also an excellent gardener, and had a special love for wildflowers. Bob also became talented in the kitchen, and learned to enjoy cooking and baking. Those who knew him well knew that he never strayed far from a coffee pot!
Perhaps his greatest love of all was the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren. They were the apple of his eye. He read to them, talked with them, entertained them, joked with them, played with them, and just plain loved them – they will miss him very much.
Bob is survived by his wife: Suzanne Sager of Kaukauna; a daughter: Amy (Ken) Zilch of Hampshire, Illinois and their children Taylor, Sydney, and Madison; two sons: Rob (Janet) Sager of Kaukauna and their children Samuel and Jennifer; and Tyler (Angie) Sager of Little Suamico and their children Tyler and Jake; a brother: Ronald E.
