Robert E. “Bob” McMahon, 86, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Appleton Health Care Center. He was born in Neenah on July 19, 1924, the son of the late Albert and Grace (Hawley) McMahon. On June 28, 1952, he married his wife of 58 years, Rita Lutz, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Menasha.
He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII, both in Europe, and the Pacific. Bob was past president of McMahon Associates, an engineering and architectural civil service company in the Fox River Valley founded by his father, and currently known as The McMahon Group.
He will be remembered for the love of his family, unfailing generosity, infectious sense of humor, and love of travel with Rita in their R.V. They would go wherever four wheels would take them, and even to the “ends of the earth” to visit their family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Rita of 58 years, and 6 children: Katie (Mike) Crow of Stonewall, CO; Susie (Andy) Huddleston of Kona, HI; Mike (Kim) McMahon, of Porterfield, WI; John (Becky) McMahon of Hortonville, WI; Colleen (Patrick) Albani of Waconia, MN; Dan McMahon of Menasha, WI; 17 grandchildren: Chris Crow, Bryan (Meera) Crow, Kevin Crow, Colin (Ana) Crow; Grace (Ken) Williamson; Ben (Margret )Huddleston; Corrie (Trevor) Hodge; Melissa Huddleston, Jessica (Kristopher) Gray; Joey Huddleston, Nick Huddleston; John (Lisa) McMahon; Amy (Neil) Bjorkman; Aaron Sovey, Aaron Albani, Robbie McMahon, Sean McMahon; great-grandchildren: Eli, Isaac, and Evan McMahon; Lyric and Irie Bjorkman; Esther, Karlie, and Eric Williamson; Otto Huddleston; Natalie, Allison, and Orion Hodge; Jack and Charlie Gray; and sister, Marge (Walter) Dowd. Bob was preceded in death by his brother Richard McMahon and sister, Eileen (Jack )Krejci.
The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri-County Chapel, with Dr. D. Michael Crow officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
The family extends a special thank you to Appleton Medical Center and Appleton Health Care Center for their wonderful care of Bob and his family, and Dr. N. Carter Noble, a good and loyal friend who has been of great service to us for over 30 years.
