Robert E. Frankenberg Sr. 93, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Robert was born on October 2, 1923 in Chicago to Benjamin and Ethel Frankenberg.
He was a brilliant metallurgical engineer, exceptional golfer, avid sports fan, a graduate of the University of Illinois, and a World War II Army veteran. Not only was he the best man in his son's wedding, but in all his settings of life he was the BEST man. Robert never hesitated to put his family first: rock solid husband, illuminating role model of a father, endless loving grandfather, and supportive uncle. Now he reunites with his loving wife and best friend Pat, where she will keep him happy and hopping in heaven.
“Grandfathers are a delightful blend of laughter, caring deeds, wonderful stories, and love.”
Robert is survived by son Bob, Jr., daughter-in-law Donna (Hoffman) and granddaughters Toni (Zach) Moore and Corinne. He is further survived by his brother Bill, Arizona.
The funeral service for Robert will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 3:00 PM at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 319 S. State St. with Fr Bill Swichtenberg officiating.
