HUNTLEY, ROBERT C.
Appleton
Age 75, took the hand of the Lord on Friday, March 3, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Robert was born in New London, WI on May 18, 1930, son of the late Arthur and Augusta (Johnske) Huntley. He married Carlene M. Abel on June 9, 1951 sharing 53 wonderful years together before her death in May 2005.
Robert served in the United States Army from March 1951 – April 1953 and was stationed in Fort Bragg where he married the love of his life, Carlene. He was paralyzed in a construction accident in 1968. However, he continued to strive in his independence as well as being a wonderful and supportive father for his six children.
Robert is survived by his children: Stephan (Tracy) Huntley, Green Bay; Diane (Charles) Nickols, Mesquite, TX; Raymond (Laurie), James (Lynn) and Michael (Wendy) Huntley, all of Appleton; Louanne (Patrick) Keohane, Rapid City, SD; 15 grandchildren: Steven, Jr.(Kelly), Alissa (Jason), Rachel (Courtney), Nick, Shannon, Lucas (Nicole), Laura (Brian), Ashley, Ben, Samantha, Mindy, Bobby, Ryan, Meaghan and Erik; 6 great grandchildren: Fisher, Aaron, Emma, Isaac, Makalay and Elin; sister, Eva Koeniger, Chilton; brother, Richard (Mary) Huntley, New London; brother-in-law, Pat McHugh, Hortonville; sisters-in-law: Sue and Kay Huntley, New London.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carlene, brothers: David, William and George; sisters: Kathy and Virginia and his grandson Waylon Nickols.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 6, 2006 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 South State Street, Appleton, with Rev. Michael O’Rourke officiating. Visitors will be received at the Church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of mass. The interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
He was a man who opened his heart and was a true inspiration to everyone he encountered. He was thankful for his blessings on earth. His kindness to others was never ending and many of his days he sacrificed his needs for others. Many will remember his strength and determination to enjoy his life with family and friends to the fullest.
