Robert J. (Bob) Buchholz, Sr. left this vale of tears, 3 days before his 88th birthday, on November 4, 2022, at his new residence in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bob was born November 7, 1934, in Green Bay, WI to Reinhard and Hilda Buchholz of Morrison, WI. He attended Brillion High School. Soon afterwards, he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in Germany with Co C 29th TK EN, was a sharpshooter and received a Good Conduct Medal.
Upon returning home, Bob went to work for Chilstrom Erecting in Milwaukee on the apprenticeship program through Iron Workers Local 8. For 52 years, he loved building America, especially many projects in Wisconsin, such as the Milwaukee County Zoo and Mitchell Park Domes in Milwaukee, and the PAC and Fox River Bridge in Appleton to name a few.
On July 3, 1960, he married the love of his life, Carol Ann Krueger at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Hilbert, Wisconsin. Together they enjoyed many Maranatha Volunteer International mission trips, building churches, schools, etc. both in the U.S. and 5 foreign countries. Bob’s passion was reading the Holy Scriptures. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, the Packers, playing cards and traveling.
Survivors include Carol his wife of 62 years, Tulsa, OK; two daughters, Renee (Barry) Burgard of Tulsa, OK, Renann Buchholz of Tulsa, OK; his brother David Buchholz of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren, Robert III (Valeria) Buchholz, Katie Buchholz (Randy Mermuys), Ryan Buchholz, Amberly (Sean) Ross, Zachary (Kristy) Burgard, Crystal (Manuel) Ornelas, Naomi Burgard; 7 great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and his only son, Robert Jr.
Memorial services with Military Rites will be held at Christ the Rock Community Church in Menasha, WI on Friday, July 21 at 2:00 pm. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 12 noon until the hour of service. Pastor Peter Leschke and Pastor David Guerrero officiating. Serenity Funeral and Crematory in Tulsa, OK and Wichmann Tri-County Chapel, Menasha, WI assisted the family.
Bob's family extends a heartfelt thank you to the VA staff for their exceptional compassion and care.
