Robert George Biechler, 88, of Kimberly, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Robert (Bob) was born on April 24, 1930 in Appleton, WI to the late Frank and Dorothy Biechler. He married the love of his life, Christina Santkuyl, on May 6, 1950.
Bob worked for 15 years at Kimberly Clark. In 1960, Bob and Chris went into the bar and restaurant business owning numerous establishments in the Fox Valley, including Club 96, The Quarry, Mr Roberts, Biechler’s Lounge, Beek’s Lounge and the Hotel Menasha. They also owned and operated Mr. Robert’s Travel Tours, hosting many exciting trips around the world. They were beloved by their hundreds of wonderful customers and friends over the years, making special memories with many along the way. Bob was president of the Outagamie County Tavern League for a number of years. He was also a member of the Elk’s and was quite proud to be a member of the Masonic Temple and the Shriners.
Chris and Bob, along with their family of 7 children, enjoyed many vacations traveling the United States. They particularly loved their trips to Florida where they ended up spending many years of retirement in Bradenton. Trips to Disney with the grandchildren highlighted their retirement years. Summers were spent on Shawano and Washington Lakes enjoying the water and outdoors with family and friends. Bob loved Christmas with all of his children and grandchildren and was always generous and loving to all. For their fiftieth wedding anniversary they treated the family to an enjoyable and memorable cruise.
Bob is survived by his wife; seven children, Susan Maynard (special friend, Gerald Lohman), Sandra Voecks, Robert (Cindy) Biechler, Sharon Goffard (fiance’, Scott Shorter), Valerie (Jim) Schmidt, Roger (Laura) Biechler and Rodney (Tanya) Biechler; 20 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister in laws, June Biechler, Delores (Smith) Caraker, Joan and Patricia Santkuyl; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald; mother and father in law, Leo and Marie Santkuyl; 2 son in laws, Patrick Maynard and Randal Voecks; brother in laws, Joseph, Arthur and Norbert Santkuyl, Bernard Smith and William Caraker and sister in law Jean Santkuyl.
Services will be held at Jansen Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E Kimberly Ave., Kimberly, on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Visitation will begin at 2:00 until 5:00. A prayer service will follow at 5:00. Entombment will take place on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Noon at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Shiners or Heartland Hospice.
