Age 84, died at her home with her family by her side on Thursday February 28, 2008. Rita was born in Kaukauna on November 8, 1923, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Wollersheim. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Menasha in 1941. She was employed as a secretary at Kimberly Clark until she married Ralph Wettengel on April 15, 1950. Rita loved her family, and enjoyed her dog Smarty. She also loved working in her garden and traveling with her daughters. Rita is survived by her children; Tom (Linda), Mary, David (Ann), Frank (Kathy), Cheryl, and a daughter-in-law, Cindy. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and her sister, Lucille (Ralph) Shuessler. Rita was preceded in death by her dear husband, Ralph, and her sons, Joe and Chuck.
The family would like to thank Affinity Hospice, Dr. Nancy Homburg and Dr. Karen Adler-Fisher for making their mother's last day's comfortable.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday March 1, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 410 W. Lawrence St., Appleton , with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. A memorial is being established for Affinity Hospice.
