Rita M. Thorson, age 76, of Menasha, passed away Monday afternoon, September 17, 2007, at Manor Care Nursing Home, where she had been residing for the last 7 months. Rita was born in Neenah on June 10, 1931, to the late Joseph and Goldie (Butler) Frederick. She lived in Neenah until she met Don and united in marriage October 25, 1952. Rita worked many years including taking care of five children. Rita enjoyed going to flea markets with her family on Sundays and being with friends, in which she never had any trouble making friends. She also enjoyed being outdoors and loved to travel including going to the family cottage every summer, where she also spent much of the time with her friends and family. Rita had the pleasure of going to Disney World in Florida where she rediscovered her youth amongst Cinderella’s Castle and “It’s a Small World” ride. Her hobbies included knitting and making afghans. She also enjoyed watching the Packer games, playing cards with her family, as well as playing bingo with her friends. She loved animals and birds especially seagulls. Rita had a special love and a soft spot for Teddy Bears. Rita is survived by her husband, Don; her four children, Vicky (Ray) Danielson, Shawano; Scott (Jodie) Thorson, Menasha; Tracy (Rosie) Thorson, Appleton; and Todd Thorson, Neenah; six grandchildren, Tiffany Ward, Tabatha Ward, Jason Boche, Abbie Thorson, Adam Thorson, Tyler Thorson; two great grandchildren, Trama Kay Ward and Ryan Shanty; two sisters, Rosemary Brazeau, Virginia Cheslock and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Boche, a sister, Patricia Taubert (Frederick-Vogt), brothers-in-law, Joseph Vogt, Douglas Taubert, Eugene Brazeau and Edward Cheslock. A memorial service for Rita will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
