RICKY (RICK) CHARLES RETZLAFF

Age 38, died unexpectedly Sunday June 17, 2001. He was born July 10, 1962 to Roger and Barbara (Schoen) Retzlaff in Appleton, Wisconsin. Rick married Laurie (Jansen) Retzlaff on April 25, 1986 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Together Rick and Laurie have three children, Melissa Jean (14), Ryan Charles (10) and Jacob Michael (5) all who survive him. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, cards, the great outdoors and the many projects he completed with his brother in law, Rick Van Dyn Hoven. He liked to play basketball with his children and watch the soccer and volleyball games they played in. But most of all, Rick devoted his life to his wife and children.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie, his three children, Melissa, Ryan and Jacob; his parents, Roger and Barbara; his sister, Connie (Michael) Frahm and their children, Crystal (Godchild), Corey, Cody and Carson; his brother, Scott (Lisa) Retzlaff and their children, Kyle, Kevin, Kollin, and Kelly (Godchild); his brother, Todd (Heather) Retzlaff and their son, Keegan (Godchild); and his sister, Amy (Don) Hemauer and their children, Brittni, Nathan and Megan; his grandfather, Harvey Schoen. Rick is also survived by a four brothers in law, Charles (Christina) Jansen and their children, Ken, Ashlea (Godchild), Charlie-Ann and Brook; David (Joan) Jansen; Jon (Kay) Jansen and their children, Brandon, MacKenzie and Shelby; Mark (Katherine) Jansen and their three children, Jessica, Matt and Rebecca; and a sister in law, Lisa (Rick) Van Dyn Hoven and their children, Bill (Godchild) and Dan. Rick is further survived by his mother and father in law, Kenneth and Donna (Maahs) Jansen many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Ione Schoen, Grandmother Dorothy Cumber, sister in law, Michelle Lee Jansen and an infant nephew, Daniel Hemauer.
The Funeral Liturgy will be 5:00 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, Appleton with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday at CHURCH from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Private family burial will take place in the Historic Riverside Cemetery.
A memorial is being established in his name.
