Richard W. Mahony, Jr. Appleton, WI

Age 76, died on Saturday, January 15, 2005 in Scottsdale, AZ. Dick was born on March 23, 1928, son of the late Richard W. Mahony, Sr. and Ruth (Lindsay) Mahony. He graduated from Appleton High School, class of 1946, and attended Marquette University. On November 3, 1949, he married the former Barbara Jean Kamps at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton. They enjoyed 55 year of marriage. Richard was employed at Appleton Papers, Appleton, for many years until his retirement in 1990. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Council #607, and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton. Dick further volunteered for the St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary. He enjoyed pheasant hunting, golfing, and being outside doing yard work. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three sons: Daniel (Sue) Mahony of Fish Creek, WI, Brian (Carla) Mahony of Appleton, and Patrick Mahony of Portland, ME; three daughters: Kathleen (Michael) Kirsling of Chandler, AZ, Ellen (Ken) Uebele of DePere, WI, and Ruth (Jon) Freier of Appleton. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and one cousin. Besides his parents, Dick was preceded in death by an infant sister, Patricia Mahony. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 South State Street, Appleton, with Fr. Michael O’Rourke officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. Memorials appreciated to: St Mary Catholic Church, Appleton, Monte Alverno Retreat Center, and St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary.
