Richard M. Butler Menasha Passed away on Monday October 30, 2006 after a brief illness. Richard was born on March 2, 1931 in Plymouth, WI., the first son of Vilas and Bernice (Paige) Butler. On May 16, 1953 he married the love of his life, Mary Gannon. He served his country in the United States Navy as a naval aviator. This instilled in him a love of aviation that lasted his entire life. He enjoyed a 35 year career at Great Northern Corporation, where he continued to serve on the board of directors during his retirement.He is survived by his wife, Mary, four children and five grandchildren: John (Joan) and their children Zachary and Maxwell; James; Thomas (Rachel) and their children Claire and Johanna; Patricia (Rich) Hansen and her son Thomas Butz. He is also survived by his sisters Susan (Richard) Wehmeyer and Katherine Voelker. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary June and his brother Robert.
Richard’s family invites you to a visitation on Thursday, November 2 at Wichmann Funeral Home, 3212 S. Oneida St., Menasha from 6-8 P.M, with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Nicolet Blvd. in Menasha at 11 A.M. on Friday November 3, preceded by a visitation from 10 A.M. until the time of services. Burial will immediately follow at St. Margaret Cemetery in Neenah. Memorials have been established in Richard’s name at the Jesuit Retreat House, 4800 Fahrnwald Road, Oshkosh, WI., 54902 and Mount Tabor Center, 522 Second Street, Menasha, WI., 54952
