Richard “Dick” Edward Linzmeier, Sr, age 83, passed away peacefully at Cherry Meadows Hospice on May 25, 2023. He was surrounded by his family and his loved ones. Richard was born July 13, 1939, to Charles and Margaret (Simonar) Linzmeier; proudly wearing number “11 “on his farming jersey. He grew up on the family farm and that was where he honed his work ethic. Following school he met Virginia “Ginger” Koester at the Cinderella Ballroom and the rest is 61 years of history!
Ginger and Dick raised 8 children in Brillion. Early in their relationship they spent time tent camping, moving into a pop-up and eventually a pull-behind. For 27 years, Dick held various positions at Brillion Iron Works. He retired in 2001. Following retirement, his second greatest joy (next to Ginger) was camping! He loved all aspects of camping life and was known for poking at the fire, walking in the woods, and finding sticks. He was a gifted woodworker and made rocking horses for the grandchildren, shelving units, picture frames, model farm buildings and play sets.
Family was paramount in Dick’s world. He was often seen helping his children with household projects. He was also serious about Polka music and loved dancing with Ginger! He was always on the dance floor at every family wedding. Later in life he loved taking Peaches the Shih Tsu for rides on his scooter.
